The Victory God Has For You: Joshua 8:1-3

God’s covenant with Abraham was the promise to be the God of Abraham’s offspring and to gift them the land of Canaan for “a perpetual holding.” ( Genesis 17 )

The Israelites were brought out of Egypt and even though the trip to Canaan shouldn’t have taken more than a few weeks, they wandered around for 40 years before they went into the Promised Land. (Exodus 12)

Some that were sent to spy the land came back with reports that caused fear in the people. Two reported on the abundance of the land. but the people let fear be their choice. They were not ready to face difficulties in order to claim what God had given them. They didn't have enough faith to move into the Promised Land.

But 40 years later, Joshua responded to the voice of the Lord in faith and the Israelite army was victorious in taking the City of Jerico. (Joshua 6:1-16) And again at the City of Ai. Joshua 8. In both cases God assures Joshua that He has already given the city into their hand. They were moving towards the Promised Land!

Just as God made a way back, then He is still making a way for us today to claim everything. He has promised us. God intends for us to live in a land of plenty! Plenty of joy, peace, hope, comfort and assurance. But we cannot live in Gods promise if we live in fear. The anecdote for fear is faith, focusing on God’s presence. Realize that God is with you. He says, "Fear thou not, for I am with thee be not dismayed; for I am thy God";(Isaiah 41:10).

He’s with you now, he always has been, and he always will be.

God has a plan for my life and yours— Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

God can be trusted — Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”

In order to claim the victory God has for us, we must

1. Be Obedient to the Word of God. The word navigates us through the storms of life and

to all things through Christ. Psalms 119:105

2. Be Prayerful. Go to God for what you need. He wants to communicate with you.

Philippians 4: 6,7.

3. Be faithful to church attendance. The church is God's mechanism for distributing His

power, purpose and presence. Hebrews 10:24,25

4. Continuous fellowship with other believers. 1 John 1:7

Maybe you’re in the delay phase right now. You’ve been praying about something, and it hasn’t happened yet. You may start to think that God has forgotten you. God uses delays to get us ready for those difficulties we encounter along the way. God has not forgotten you! He knows what you’re going through. He wants you to learn to trust in him. You can count on him for his help. You may have to fight the battle, but Jesus has already given you the victory.

(1 Corinthians 57, 58) "But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain"
